The Future of Content Marketing

Everything that exists online is content, be it blogs, videos, live streams, etc. Marketers depend on continuous content creation to connect with their audience and sell products or services.

Today, about 86% of marketers believe that interactive content is one of the best ways to keep customers engaged. Let’s see what the future holds for content marketing.

Going Live Is a New Form of Reaching Out

Videos remain an effective way to reach out to potential and existing consumers. They’re used across all marketing channels to:

  • Make announcements
  • Send messages
  • Showcase products
  • Answer questions

Still, a new trend emerged in 2020. Due to lockdowns, people quickly became needy of new content and live streams, ask-me-anything sessions, and webinars.

Instead of scrolling through slides, they are now more interested in asking questions and interacting with participants and hosts of live webinars. This trend will likely continue in the future, with new approaches to live stream and immersive technologies.

Saving Time With AI-Powered Content

Marketers accurately predicted the rise of AI tools in content marketing. AI is set to be a defining future technology, but the future is already here. AI can use available data to create videos, summaries, headlines, and blog posts.

However, this primarily written content still needs to be edited by an actual human. At the moment, AI is not at the level where it can completely replace the human mind. However, it’s slowly getting there.

What’s great about this trend is that it will help marketers in fast content creation that will also be cost-effective. AI and machine learning will also be used for improved data analyses that will provide marketers with new insights and help them create better content.

Building Communities for Better Reach

People love feeling like they belong. By building communities around brands, marketers create a comfortable environment for customers. That way, it’s easier to share content and expand their reach.

Communities help with word-of-mouth marketing as well. They increase audience engagement and brand awareness.

Marketers can build two types of communities—the one where they bring together content creators and give them the freedom to thrive within the company, and the other where they bring in customers and let them express their needs.

Social Media Won’t Become Obsolete

It’s hard to believe that people will be left without social media platforms in the future. Facebook and Instagram are already filled with ads that target users, and TikTok is used for live streams and video sharing.

Customers are accustomed to looking for their favorite brands online, liking their pages and profiles, and expecting to see the latest news or discounts. Social media replaced newspapers almost entirely and enabled brands to communicate with customers directly.

What remains to be seen is which of the platforms will grow and which one will be replaced with a new and better one. What marketers will have to do is find new ways to create equally educational and engaging content for each platform and specific audiences.

Summary

The future of content marketing looks bright. Blog posts, videos, and images will continue to be essential methods of building a brand and communicating with consumers. Still, there will be some necessary tweaks since the content marketing industry will go through changes.

Marketers will utilize AI tools to create videos and collect data. Social media will stay and serve as a marketing channel where brands will likely go live to explore the needs of their customers.
